Frontiers played a key role in supporting the project aimed at determining infection levels of S. mansoni and S. haematobium that correspond to minimal or no illness, helping national health programs set important targets for schistosomiasis control. Specifically, Frontiers provided full technical support, including acting as a co-investigator and taking on a coordination role. Their involvement ensured the effective comparison of schistosomiasis rates between villages with high and no infection levels, focusing on measuring the prevalence and intensity of S. haematobium across various age groups and understanding the associated health impacts.

Frontiers has worked with Unlimit Health, London in the implementation of the Multi-country Assessment of Prevalence for Female Genital Schistosomiasis (MAP-FGS) Study, coordinated by the Task Force for Global Health. Specific services provided by Frontiers included the development of effective training materials, facilitation of training sessions, piloting of training tools in Tanzania, and supporting the refinement and consolidation of these training materials for the remaining countries; Madagascar, Togo, Mali, Senegal Nigeria and Ghana involved in the study, supporting necessary country-specific updates to training materials and the protocol.
